About the Event

Presenter: Diana Bowman (former director of the National Center for Homeless Education)

While most parents are valuable partners in working with school teachers, staff, and administrators, some parents can be challenging. Parents experiencing homelessness often bring unique challenges to interactions with local liaisons and school staff. This interactive webinar will feature scenarios that the presenter, Diana Bowman, has encountered and offered ways to work with parents experiencing homelessness to ensure the best educational services for their children. While emphasizing what liaisons and school staff can do to avoid formal disputes, the webinar will also discuss the role of the McKinney-Vento dispute process as a tool for reaching a resolution that is objective and fair to all parties.
