About the Event

Students experiencing temporary housing are entitled to educational rights under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. There are key provisions and benefits that support students experiencing temporary housing to have full participation in school. This session will focus on the key provisions and the important role of the McKinney-Vento liaison in providing these benefits and protections to students.


By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:


  • Define homelessness and possible causes.

  • Describe the key provisions of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

  • Utilize the McKinney-Veto Act’s definition of homelessness to determine eligibility of students experiencing temporary housing.

  • Apply their knowledge to scenarios illustrating the basic provisions of the McKinney-Vento Act.
